UX by Holga D

It’s only a concept, but with this attention to detail the Holga D is a concept ready to go to straight to manufacturing.

It’s the user experience  that really impress me with Saikat Biswas’ Holga D. First of all the ability to adapt it to left handed use, and back to right handed, is genious.

  • Huddle

    - Where I work

I joined Huddle as User Experience Director in May 2010. This means the “My work” section will be updated a little less frequently in the future.

I will how ever add major Huddle work here, eventually. And I’ll continue announcing guest blogging spots and side project as usual.

  • AoT

    - I’m interviewed

Sweden’s top publishing industry magazine, Allt om Tidskrifter, interviewed me about how to create great user experiences on tablets like the iPad. As soon as the article goes online (it’s in the latest print issue) I’ll link to it.

  • Likemind

    - A new client

I am very happy to welcome a new agency client of mine. Likemind is known for their work with British Airways, Cadbury, Marks & Spencer, Sky and other quality British and international brands.

We’re just kicking off our collaboration, more details when projects get under way and launch.

  • Think Vitamin

    - Guest blogging

Guest blogging is a lot of fun, and it is an excellent opportunity to talk about my passion subjects with more people.

Starting now (February 2010) I will be posting on a fairly regular basis to one of the web industry’s leading blogs (and a personal favorite of mine) Think Vitamin, together with Andreas Carlsson.

    Here are our posts.

  • Projector

    - Work in progress

Stockholm-based Projector delivers imaginative work to top brand like Samsung and Adidas. I am involved with the agency on an exciting project that is a bit hush-hush at the moment.

More info to follow as things go live.

  • Copybox

    - Work in progress

Copybox received some well deserved attention after TechCrunch50 in 2008. Earlier this year (’09) Burt hired myself and Andreas Carlsson to improve the app. So far we have reworked the UI and improved the work flow.

It is very satisfying to be, as Burt’s Gustav von Sydow puts it, “making a creative writing tool smarter, better, faster and stronger”. The project continues in 2010.

  • CodeSlam

    - Your code editor in the cloud

An online code editor with all the tools you need to fly solo or collaborate with others. [...] Easy to get to grips with for coding newbies, and powerful enough to be the tool of choice for experienced developers.

I am a bit biased – after consulting for the project I am now part of the CodeSlam team – but this is great app with a nice UI that makes work a breeze.

  • ‘A jewelry company’

    - Work in progress

I am part of a team upgrading the web presence of this well known jewelry company. So far our UX improvements have lead to a high triple digit percentage increase in revenue.

More information as the different stages go live.

  • RHOK

    - Solving disaster relief problems

RHOK “brings together disaster relief experts and software engineers to solve real world-problems related to Crisis/Disaster Relief.”

Together with my fellow judges from Microsoft, NASA, Google, The World Bank and Yahoo! I was tasked with choosing the best of the best from a brilliant roster of entries. All the winners are listed at the RHOK site with links to their code at GitHub.

  • Speaking at HD Live 09

    - Spreading the Noded word

I enjoyed speaking at HD Live 09 in Hull, and received some lovely feedback from the attendees. This is the deck I used.

My fellow speakers included Mike Butcher from TechCrunch UK, Sapient’s Anand Verma, Kai Gait of GSK, Rob Palmer of Branded07, and the BBC’s Rory Cellan-Jones.

  • CAP&Design 2/09

    - The branding issue

    “Make a name for yourself”.

I co-authored this feature on managing ones online brand for Scandinavia’s top design magazine CAP&Design together with Andreas Carlsson. The rest of our network contributed to a Flash feature in the same issue.

The fab illustrations are by Linus Nyström.

  • UX Australia Competition Entry

    - The badge ideas that led to a pitch invite

Conference badges need to do more. That was the premise behind the three designs Andreas Carlsson and I submitted to the UX Australia badge competition.

We received the first honorable mentions, and better still, our competition entries lead to a pitch invite from a large event organizer.

View my main entry complete with captions on Flickr.
My post about creating “a better conference badge”.

  • OrchestrateApp

    - A dream team collaboration

It was great fun being chosen for the dream team (Clearleft, Jon Hicks, Carsonified, Jon Leighton, Mocra, …) that first time entrepreneur Andy Wright had assembled to create his scheduling application.

(I delivered this assignment under the banner of Gray White Black, the agency I co-founded.)
