Relentless passion

There are people around you that will never appreciate your passion and all the other “extras” that you bring to a project. They are people to whom a meal cooked by a famous chef is simply something to eat, a beautiful chair just a place to sit, and a classic movie scene just three people talking at a piano in a bar.

You can’t ignore them, but you must work with and around them. The best way to do so is to involve others. Spread your passion liberally and generously. It might feel like an uphill battle, a thankless task with no reward.

Trust me, it is worth the effort. For every inspiring post you write, for every day that you bring energy to a lifeless, problem laden project or team, you are actually doing something worthwhile. The more of you there is, the more others will start to engage and grow. Regardless of your official role you will be the one that keeps things moving, you are the person that will inspire people to do better.

Your relentless passion will eventually become contagious. Not long afterwards even the most cynical, backwards, “don’t rock the boat” minded people will start to change. They will open their eyes and start appreciating things they had not previously noticed.

When that happens a great meal is appreciated, an Arne Jacobsen chair seen for its inherent beauty, and a love of film (re)discovered. And your passion, drive and professionalism will be fully appreciated.
