Side projects have massive upside

We’re all busy working and delivering like crazy. Drafting, coding, pitching, launching, testing, writing, planning…
This is why it’s important that once in a while we involve ourselves in side projects. Working on something that’s not part of our day-to-day business has massive upside.
Here are some of the most obvious benefits.
- Fun
- Raises your companies profile (blog/Twitter about it!)
- Differentiates you from the competition
- Inspiring
- Can turn in to a lucrative side business
Recent examples of great side projects include Carsonified’s “Matt” (Elliott’s posts tell the story from idea to trying out Django through to a post-launch evaluation) and Clearspring’s “Save Pandora” widget.
What side projects will you start at your company?

Matt from Carsonified.
