Always follow through

Following through in everything you do makes as much sense in the web world as it does in physical activities like dancing, tennis or baseball.
For example, if you are throwing a ball but stop mid movement the ball will likely travel a shorter distance, be widely off target and you’ll hurt your arm in the process. If you stunt your moves in dance you’ll look either sloppy or mechanical.
In the web world this translates to things like having consistent navigation all the way down to the 6th level and the same tone of voice in your copy even on the most obscure no-one-will-ever-see-it page.
If your site is inviting and engaging but a successfully completed shopping order is confirmed with “user submitted entry, non-error, save. db1.” you have miss managed the dialogue with your customer and sown seeds of doubt in their minds (even if that obscure sentence means their order went through just fine).
Always follow through. It’s the sign of a pro, whether you are Tim Lincecum or Yvette Chauviré. Or the next web star.
