Bring your “web data” to the real world

Google Analytics, team updates, client prospect lists, project management app updates; it all lives in apps and systems, usually accessible to a select few. Chances are if you shared this information with your whole team, every single one of them, they would feel more empowered, clued in and responsible for the success of your company.
Take a cue from the A.D. Williams Engineering company in Calgary and put it right up there.

From the 37signals blog: “Our Winnipeg regional director, Tom Zborowsky, wanted to show the late and upcoming milestones in a large LCD monitor on the production floor. He wants to make sure everyone knows which projects are due and when, and as soon as he sees red on the board he knows the project needs to be addressed.”
Others who embrace this type of openes include my peeps at interactive agency Orbitsville. At the Stockholm HQ there’s a big flat screen monitor in the reception area showing off up-to-date info on projects, client news and other info from both internal and external resources (nothing confidential, just interesting and relevant stuff). In both cases it shows a respect for the people in the company, transparency and honesty towards clients and the output, and confidence. B-r-i-l-l-i-a-n-t.
